With the lead up to the winter olympics, so many of my local friends and students have reminded me how my home country has such a rich winter olympic history and how I must be looking forward to another good showing in Vancouver.Especially in the downhill skiing said one student.
WHAT!
I'm from Aus-tra-li-a. Big hot country in the southern hemisphere. I think you're talking about Aus-tri-a.Small cold country in the northern hemisphere.
Anyway it got me thinknig about Australia's true moment of glory in 2002. Driving in my car, I pulled into the kombini carpark and got myself a nikuman (closest thing I could find to a pie n sauce) and sat back to watch the final on my new car TV. A few minutes later I had sprayed the pork bun everywhere and knew I had just witnessed history. Australia's first ever winter olympic gold medal.
